The site will comprise ten Senvion 3MW turbines with 122-metre rotors and is due to be installed in late 2019.
The nearshore site will be installed in water depths ranging between 3-18 metres, Senvion said, near the Port of Taranto, southern Italy.
Windpower Monthly revealed Senvion was inline to launch the Italian offshore sector in June 2017.
"The offshore wind market is diversifying in terms of regions, wind regimes and solutions. This requires from vendors innovative approaches and technologies,"said David Hardy, chief sales officer for Senvion.
"For this project, Senvion has been able to leverage its experience, and develop for Renexia an offshore version of its 3.0M122 wind turbine. This modular approach is promising for many offshore markets around the globe."
Renexia managing director Riccardo Toto, added: "This project is another successful step forward. Indeed, it is part of a wider strategy that Renexia is pursuing in the US wind power industry through an important pipeline and also worldwide with many other projects," said
Renexia appointed UK-based engineering consultancy firm Mott MacDonald as the project engineer.
