MV wins O&M extension

UK: MHI-Vestas (MV) has signed a three-year extension to the operations and maintenance contract for the 21MW Sprogø project.

MV was awarded the deal, which contains the option of a further year, by project owner A/S Storebælt. Sprogø is located in the Green Belt, the strait between the two Danish islands of Zeeland and Funen.

The project came online in 2009 and uses Vestas V90 3MW turbines. According to MV, the seven turbines have averaged 98% availability since they began operating.

The deal follows a 15-year extension for Siemens from RWE for the 90MW Rhyl Flats project in the Irish Sea. Rhyl Flats also came online in 2009.
