Ramboll has designed more than 50% of the foundations already in use at offshore wind farms in Europe. I
In its work for Cape Wind, Ramboll will be assisted by Louisiana-based Keystone Engineering, whose remit will include ensuring that the design conforms to US standards and codes. The third firm in the consortium is PMSS, which will provide health, safety and environmental (HSE) support.
Speaking with Windpower Offshore, Ramboll business development director, Søren Juel Petersen, explained that the consortium is conscious that the US regulatory authorities that will be examining the design will not have had previous experience of approving offshore wind developments and that they may be require additional information or documentation.
