Construction milestone for 108MW Riffgat project

Monopile installation completed ahead of schedule

Early completion of the first crucial stage in the installation of the 108MW Riffgat offshore wind farm has been announced. All 30 monopile foundations are now in place, several weeks ahead of schedule.

The foundations installation began in June, undertaken by Seaway Heavy Lifting’s Oleg Strashnov.

The developers of the German North Sea project, EWE (90%) and Enova (10%), are now awaiting delivery of the jacket foundation for Riffgat’s offshore electricity substation, due later this month.

Turbine installation will begin in March 2013, with Fred Olsen Windcarrier supplying the vessel. The project will be powered by Siemens 3.6MW turbines.
