Government help for English SMEs for offshore projects

Grow:Offshore Wind launched

A new government-supported service, Grow:Offshore Wind, has been launched. Its goal is to help small to medium-sized English businesses enter the offshore wind market, or develop their existing offerings.

The programme is being led by Grant Thornton International. The other major partners are RenewableUK, the University of Sheffield, the Department for Business Innovation & Skills' (BIS) Regional Growth Fund and the Manufacturing Advisory Service.

The programme will provide market intelligence and technical support from offshore wind experts. It will also provide funding for up to 30% of project costs, up to maximum of £500,000.
The funding can be used for tangible assets, such as new machinery or equipment, or intangible assets, including securing patent rights and licenses. It can also be used to cover the investment needed to meet wage costs resulting directly from offshore wind projects.
