The shallow-water project is at a preliminary stage with detailed monitoring of wind resources still to come, according to the founder of the Bangalore-based company, Malolan Cadambi.

Waters off the western state of Gujarat have been identified as amongst the best in India for offshore wind electricity generation. The state government is at work on an offshore wind policy, reports the Times of India.

Earlier this month, India’s national government confirmed the creation of an inter-ministerial committee that will draw up policies to encourage offshore wind development.
