OWE 2017: Senvion keeps tight-lipped on 10MW turbine

UK: Having let slip that it was working on a 10MW-plus offshore turbine at the AWEA conference in May, Senvion has declined to provide any further details at the London offshore event.

The company has confirmed what we already knew from the US show, but has provided no further information on the turbine's technical specification or its likely availability date.

Industry experts say that a 10MW-plus turbine will require a rotor diameter in excess of anything yet seen. The largest currently in action is the Adwen A 8-180 at 180 metres, an onshore prototype of which is now operating.

A new offshore product announcement from Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy had been scheduled for 7 June, but was postponed for undeclared reasons.
