Grid operator Energinet.dk said the cable was repaired sooner than expected, meaning the project could be back in operation as early as 23 March. It did warn however the date may change as a result of testing.

The cause of the fault, reported 21 February, remains unknown. At the time, Energinet.dk said the repair could take three weeks, weather dependent.

Tests will be carried out on the damaged cable to determine a cause. Energinet.dk also said a cost of the repair is still unknown as Dong will be entitled to compensation.

The project suffered another outage in September 2014 following a short circuit of the onshore cable. Production was interrupted for seven days, forcing Energinet to pay developer Dong Energy over DKK 9 million (€1.2 million) in compensation.
