The Danish developer said it wants to "build awareness of the the important and growing role that offshore wind is playing" in the UK's transition to a low-carbon economy.
Posters will be put up across the London Underground network and adverts placed in selected national and regional media over the next few weeks. Dong has also launched a new website laying out what it sees as the benefits of offshore wind.
The company said it has been moved to launch the campaign after research it carried out showed "a very low awareness of the part that offshore wind is playing in the UK's transformation to a low carbon economy".
"With the energy debate gathering momentum, this is an important time to ensure that the arguments for offshore wind are clearly articulated as the future of our energy mix is considered," said Brent Cheshire, Dong UK chairman. "We are also aware that there are numerous persistent myths about offshore wind which need debunking.
"We very much hope that over time, other stakeholders in the industry will contribute articles and images to the microsite we have developed."
