The project involves a total investment of CNY 1.12 billion ($179 million).

XEMC has already installed and grid-connected a 5MW prototypes off the coast of Fujian, as well as off the Belgian coast in Europe.

Fujian plans to install a total of 500MW offshore wind capacity at several sites by the end of 2015.

XEMC has a manufacturing base in Fujian and it has cooperative relations with companies such as Datang New Energy and the Zhongmin Offshore Wind Company, which are actively involved in wind developments in the province.

Earlier this month, China's National Energy Administration released a document setting up the benchmark grid feed-in tariff for offshore wind power. The rates for offshore projects is CNY 0.85 ($0.14) per kilowatt hour, with intertidal projects at CNY 0.75/kWh. The policy applies to wind projects commissioned before 2017.
