This latest deal is part of an outline contract for the delivery of up to 900 kilometres of offshore cables with the project's developer, Dong Energy.

The order for Gode Wind covers 140 kilometres of 34kV offshore cables, which link the wind turbines to each other and connect them to the offshore transformer platform.

Construction of the wind farms, which have a combined capacity of 582MW, off the Lower Saxony coast will start in spring 2015 as soon as the Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore wind farm, which is currently under construction, has been completed.

Commissioning is expected in 2016. The projects will be made up of 97 Siemens 6MW turbines.

In the past, Dong has awarded cable installation contracts for the Horns Rev 1, Horns Rev 2 and Anholt wind farms to Nexans.
