The world’s first offshore wind vocational training programme will be launched this week, and is fully booked with 24 participants.

The 9 month ‘ForWind Academy’ course is aimed at professionals who already have some experience in wind energy, offshore oil and gas or maritime industries.

The syllabus comprises five modules:

-        offshore wind farm design

-        project development

-        offshore wind farm components and procurement

-        offshore wind farm installation, and

-        offshore wind farm operation.

The English language course takes place on a part-time basis and includes both classroom-based instruction and distance learning.

The course is the product of ForWind, a wind research initiative involving universities in the northern German cities of Oldenburg, Bremen and Hannover and Bremerhaven-based wind energy agency, WAB.
