DanTysk foundations installation set to commence

288MW project takes shape

Installation of the 80 monopile foundations at DanTysk is about to commence, a spokeswoman for Vattenfall confirmed to Windpower Offshore. The developer is progressing the 288MW project in the North Sea, alongside Stadtwerke München.

The design, production and installation of the monopiles was contracted to the Aarsleff Bilfinger Berger joint venture in April 2011. The first monopiles should be in position by the end of this month.

Work is already underway on the placement of scour protection. This task commenced in December 2012 and, by the end of this month, about half of the 75,000 tonnes of rock required will have been placed, the spokeswoman added. The rock is placed using a downpipe on a 'rock dumper' vessel.

Operating out of the Norwegian port of Slovag, the Tertnes is being deployed at the project site, 69km west of Sylt. The work is expected to be completed by mid-March 2013.
