Power generation to begin this spring
Siemens has received prototype certification from GL Renewables Certification for offshore testing of new 6MW turbine.
Installation earlier this year of Siemens new 6MW 120m turbine at Gunfleet Sands
As previously reported, the test will take place at Dong Energy's demonstration site at Gunfleet Sands and will feature two turbines with 120m rotors.
Work on commissioning the turbines began in January and power generation is due to begin this spring.
Siemens is due to supply Dong Energy with 300 6MW units for wind farms in UK waters. The 210MW Westermost Rough project is the first named as one to be powered by Siemens’ new, larger turbines.
