Leading offshore wind installation service and vessels company, A2Sea, hopes to win “a couple of large German contracts”, Windpower Offshore has learned.
Without naming the projects, A2Sea chief operating officer (COO), Hans Schneider, confirmed that the company is awaiting news about the bids.
If its German bids are successful, A2Sea will have made important progress in establishing itself as a significant player in what many anticipate will be Europe’s largest market for offshore wind installation during the second half of this decade.
There remain many unanswered questions about how German developers envisage installation of their projects, “but we’ll get there,” said Schneider.
A2Sea was responsible for logistics during construction of the newly inaugurated Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farm, with two of the company’s vessels deployed, the Endeavour and the Seajack.
Owned by Dong Energy and Siemens, A2Sea has achieved strong growth over the past five years, with revenue increasing by more than 500%.
